As one of the few sources, the Configurator Database Report provides a powerful picture of the use of web-based customization tools in western industries. We took a closer look at the current edition of 2015. The following is a short extract from the 300-page publication:

More than 1,000 online configurators are currently in use in western industries

total of 173 new configurators were introduced in 2015, an increase of 18%

automotive industry shows the highest growth with 58%

Configurators seem to be particularly challenging for shoe manufacturers: 21% of the tools have disappeared from the market, but 33% new ones have been launched

Sports equipment keeps in balance: 13% new launches, 14% are not existent any more

Other sectors covered by the report: accessories (17% plus / 13% minus), clothing (12% plus / 7% minus), food (17% plus / 10% minus), house and garden (33 plus / 13% minus)
